Women Finish 3rd, Men 6th at Vanguard

COSTA MESA, Calif. - This morning, the LMU Cross Country team ran a partial squad at the Vanguard University Invitational. The women's team took 3rd place behind strong teams, while the men came in 6th overall in a competitive race. The women were led by freshman Aeoleone Bristow who finished the 5k race 10th overall at 18:35, while the men were led by redshirt senior Connor Pastoor, who finished 21st at 26:48 in the 8k race.

The women finished strong, with 4 runners in the top 22. Following Bristow, was Jessica Mumaugh who finished 13th at 18:39. Michelle Hickerson crossed the finish line at 18:50 in 17th place. Kelly Shogren came in at 19:08 to finish in 22nd. Rounding out the Lions top 6 were Alyssa Bellia and Laura Delgado who came in at 6:26 and 6:27 and finished 41st and 42nd. The Lions averaged just over 19 minutes to finish third behind Azusa Pacific and The Master's College.

For the men, Oran Arms and Jonathan Miller finished five seconds apart at 27:09 and 27:14, to cross in 29th and 32nd places. Sophomore Dan Smith was next at 27:47 for 40th. RJ Larrieu came in 27:54 to finish 51st. The men ran an average of 27:20.40 and finished behind strong west coast competitors, including the winning team from The Master's College.

Next up for the Lions will be the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind. A select group of runners will compete Sunday, Oct. 16th at 11:00 a.m., Pacific time.
