COSTA MESA, Calif. - LMU men's and women's cross country 'B' squads each placed second overall Saturday at the Vanguard Invitational at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa.

The Lion men had two top-10 finishers in Michael Duncan (5th, 25:29.26) and Lance Capel (8th, 25:38.74), helping the squad to 88 points behind team champ Orange Coast College (65 points). In third was The Master's College (101 points), which is ranked No. 14 in the latest NAIA poll.

Chloe Curtis was the top finisher for the LMU women, placing 11th overall in 18:17.42. Kelly Parsons (18:21.12) and Lorena Garcia (18:24.69) were 13th and 14th, respectively, helping the Lions to 79 points and a tie for second place in the team standings.

Biola, which is ranked No. 5 in the latest NAIA poll, took first in the women's race (36 points), while No. 7 The Master's College finished equal to the Lions with 79 points.

 

 

LMU's "A" team competes for the final time before the West Coast Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational.
