San Luis Obispo, Calif. - Loyola Marymount took seventh (men) and tenth (women) place finishes at the Cal Poly Cross Country Invitationals Saturday morning in San Luis Obispo. Junior Adam Bacon was the top Lion finisher, as his 8k time of 27:08.6 was good for a top-15 finish.

The men's squad scoring five crossed the line within 1:40 of each other, as sophomore Drew Haberkorn followed Bacon with a 27:53.2 mark. Freshman Lino Almeida (28:01.5), sophomore Reynaldo Barerra (28:36.4), and junior Kenny Arehart (28:48) rounded out the Lions' scoring five.

The women's squad finished tenth, but posted an impressive gap of less than 25 seconds. Freshman Brittany Rezowalli led the Lions with a season-best 19:27.6 5k time and a 35th place finish. Senior Trinity Amalfitano (19:40.5), junior Lara Del Rio (19:46.2), freshman Claudia Bishop (19:50.6), and sophomore Kristen Gonzalez (19:52.2) rounded out the women's scoring five. Amalfitano, Del Rio, and Gonzalez each recorded season-best 5k times.

The teams competed this weekend after having back-to-back weekends off in the schedule. The Lions had last competed September 25 at the Stanford Invitational.

Approaching the final leg of the 2004 campaign, next up for the Lions is the Titan Invitational on Friday, October 22 at 4:00 p.m. It will be the final test for LMU cross country before the Lions head to the West Coast Conference championships on October 30 in northern California.
