TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Redshirt senior Tara Erdmann followed up her 4th place finish at the NCAA Pre-National Invitational last year with a 3rd place finish this year. Erdmann ran the 6k race in 20:41 to pace the Lions' women at the LaVerne Gibson Championship Cross Country course, hosted by Indiana State University. Junior Sterling Lockert finished with a time of 25:47, more than six seconds faster than his time last year, to lead the LMU men.

Erdmann finished at a pace of 3:27 per kilometer, only four seconds behind the individual winner Risper Kimaiyo of UTEP.  Erdmann's finish was the best time for a competitor from the West region.  Senior Brieanna Delaney was second to cross the finish line for the Lions as she finished in 22:35 and 107th overall. Next for LMU was junior Caroline Draper who came in 153rd overall with a time of 23:15. She was followed by freshman Aeoleone Bristow with a 185th overall finish in 23:42. Sophomore Michelle Hickerson rounded out the Lions' top five by finishing 195th in 23:45. The LMU women finished 21st overall out of 37 teams with an average time of 22:47. The Lions finished ahead of host Indiana State and UTEP, who was lead by overall individual winner, Kimaiyo.

For the men, sophomore Weston Strum had a time of 26:02 to finish 138th overall. Fellow sophomore Drew Dalton came in 166th in 26:20. Junior Tyre Johnson finished in 26:51 to place 214th, followed by redshirt senior Connor Pastoor who crossed at 27:08 for a 237th place finish. The men finished in 30th place with an average time of 26:24.

Next up for the Lions is the Titan Invitational at Cal State Fullerton. The meet will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct 21.
