SUNNYVALE, Calif. - The LMU men's and women's cross country teams did not disappoint in their final tune-up before the West Coast Conference Championships, as the squads clinched first place in both the men's and women's races at the Santa Clara Bronco Invite Saturday at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale, Calif.

Grace Graham-Zamudio earned her third individual crown, finishing the 6k in a course record 20:18.1. Sheree Shea was third overall in 20:22.3 and Brittnie Munoz rounded out a trio of Lions in the top 10, placing ninth in 20:41.5. Munoz was the seventh collegiate finisher and Danielle Shanahan was 10th among Division I runners as the Lion women scored total 53 points.

UC Santa Barbara was second int he team stand ins with 88 points, followed by Oregon State (92 pts) and Idaho (113 pts).

 

 

The Lion men did not miss a step without the services of Weston Strum as Kevin Joerger raced to a personal-best 23:55.5 third-place Division I individual finish. Drew Dalton was fifth among Division I runners in 24:01.9 and the Lions edged runner-up UC Santa Barbara by two points in the team standings (84 pts to 86 pts).

The Lions' 'B' squads will compete at the Titan Invitational on Oct. 25 and the 2013 WCC Championships, hosted by Pepperdine, will take place Saturday, Nov. 2. The men's 8k will start at 9 a.m. followed by the women's 6k at 10 a.m.
