Cross Country Regular-Season Concludes

FULLERTON, Calif. - In their final regular-season meet of the 2015 season, the LMU women's and men's cross country teams placed first and second, respectively, at the Titan Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton Friday night.

Racing a "B" squad of runners, the Lion women were led by freshman Ann Kelly who placed fourth overall and first among scoring collegiate competitors. Kelly's 5K time was 18:13.50, a personal best. Seniors Evelyn Gonzalez and Kelly Parsons placed sixth and seventh, respectively, among scoring runners crossing the finish line in 19:00.62 and 19:04.94.

Senior Alexandra Young was 11th among scoring runners in 19:15.54 and freshman Danielle Nunez was the Lions fifth and final scorer in 15th place in 19:37.06. The Lion women totaled 40 team points to edge out runner-up Biola, which finished with 43 points.



For the men it was freshman Brian Joerger who led the Lion contingent, placing fourth among scoring runners with an 8K time of 25:19.77. Also scoring team points for LMU were freshman Ben Davis (8th, 25:35.99), freshman Joey Rodgers (16th, 26:13.45), freshman Alex Sasser (18th, 26:25.98) and redshirt freshman Mat Holton (20th, 26:36.64).

With 66 points the men took second place in the team standings behind winner UCLA, which finished with 23 points and four of the top five individual place winners.

The cross country postseason begins Saturday, Oct. 31 in Spokane, Wash., as the Lions contest for the 2015 West Coast Conference men's and women's championships. More information regarding the championship meet can be found here.
