SEATTLE - Friday the 13th was anything but unlucky for junior Danielle Shanahan who raced to a 13th place overall finish at the NCAA Division I Cross Country West Regionals Friday afternoon at Jefferson Park Golf Course. Her finish lead the Lion women to a 16th place team finish int he field of 35. The Lion men took 17th in the field of 30 competing teams.

Shanahan raced the 6K course in 21:02.4 to finish in the region's top 20 for a second consecutive year. As a sophomore in 2014, she placed 19th overall.

Senior Kelli Capel closed out her collegiate cross country career with a 60th-place finish in 21:43.7. Freshman Emily Hubert was the third Lion across the finish line, placing 85th in 22:14.9. Senior Samantha Garcia was 96th in 22:18.5 and sophomore Maddi Vorgitch was 108th in 22:24.2 to round out LMU's scoring five.



For the men, freshman Koby Pederson was the top Lion finisher, placing 80th overall on the 10K course in 32:41.7. Sophomore Christopher Fredlund, junior Brandon Vientos and freshman Branden Estrada crossed in succession, placing 112th (33:31.0), 113th (33:36.6) and 114th (33:37.5). Freshman Brian Joerger was the Lions' fifth and final scorer, placing 122th in 33:47.2.
