Graham-Zamudio, Shanahan Earn All-Region Honors

STANFORD, Calif. - Top-25 individual finishes by senior Grace Graham-Zamudio and sophomore Danielle Shanahan led LMU women's cross country to a ninth place team finish at the 2014 NCAA Division I West Regional Championship Friday morning at the Stanford Golf Course. The Lion men took 20th in the 29-team field, paced by seniors Daniel Gibson and Michael Duncan.

Graham-Zamudio took 17th overall, racing the 6k course in 20:44.3 while Shanahan finished two placed behind in 20:46.4. The duo both earn All-West Region honors for their top-25 finishes.

Junior Kayla de Bondt placed 62nd (21:32.6), junior Kelli Sugimoto was 71st (21:41.6) and senior Chloe Curtis was 92nd (22:02.3) to round out the scoring Lions. LMU earned 261 points for their ninth-place team finish in a field of 34 teams. Oregon took the team title with 88 points, followed by Boise State in second, marking the two squads which will automatically advance to the NCAA Championships.



In their final collegiate cross country race, senior Gibson and Duncan placed 90th and 95th, respectively. Gibson completed the 10k course in 31:14.1 while Duncan cross the finish line in 31:20.8. Lance Capel placed 116th in 31:38.9, followed by Christopher Fredlund in 117th in 31:38.9. Brandon Vientos rounded out the scoring Lions, placing 156th in 32:39.6.
