87th Place for Shanahan
Danielle Shanahan placed in the top third at the NCAA Championships Saturday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Danielle Shanahan raced to an 87th place finish at the NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country Championships Saturday afternoon at Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.
The junior, running in her first National Championship, completed the 6K course in 20:45.9, placing in the top third among the 250-plus competitors.
Shanahan became the fourth Lion to reach the national state for women's cross country, joining the likes of Laura Mickelson (2006, 2007), Tara Erdmann (2008, 2010, 2011) and Sheree Shea (2012). Her achievement gave the Lions its seventh Nationals competitor in 10 years.
The Torrance, Calif., native has earned back-to-back First Team All-WCC honors, back-to-back All-West Region honors and was named WCC Freshman of the Year in 2013.
