Aug. 1, 2012
USTFCCCA All-Academic Men's Team | USTFCCCA All-Academic Women's Team LOS ANGELES -- LMU Cross Country and Track & Field has once again demonstrated its excellence inside the classroom as the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced that LMU's men's and women's track have received All-Academic status for the 2012 season. LMU's men qualified for the honor with cumulative team GPA of 3.18, improving its GPA after receiving the same honor last year. LMU`s men are one of only two teams from the West Coast Conference awarded by the USTFCCCA. The women's team had a cumulative GPA of 3.35, also improving its GPA from the previous year, one of four WCC schools named to the list. The squads earned the USTFCCCA distinction as a result of being a highest-placing team with at least a 3.00-cumulative GPA at the most recent NCAA indoor and outdoor championship, respectively. The University of Arkansas was named women's Indoor Track & Field Scholar Team of the Year. Stanford University received the honor for women's Outdoor Track & Field Scholar Team of the Year. For the men, the NCAA Division I Indoor and Outdoor national championships from the University of Florida were named Track & Field Scholar Teams of the Year. The Lions begin their 2012 cross-country campaign at the Cal State Fullerton Mark Covert Classic on Saturday, Sept. 1. - GO LIONS -
