Aug. 12, 2010
LOS ANGELES, Calif. - LMU is deeply saddened by the loss of incoming student-athlete Natalie Nield. Nield, who was going to be a freshman on the LMU cross country team this fall, was tragically killed in a car accident on Monday, August 9. Born August 12, 1992, Nield was an honor roll student and graduate of Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego, Calif.
A memorial mass for Natalie Nield will be held at Claver Center Gymnasium on the campus of Cathedral Catholic High School on Sunday, August 15 at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Natalie's name to the CCHS Cross Country Team. For further information please go to Cathedral Catholic High School's website.
Head Coach Scott Guerrero said, "I am so incredibly sorry for the Nield family and for Natalie's Cathedral Catholic High School family as well. In reality we lost a family member too. In fact, Natalie has been a member of the Lion family since before she was born as both her mother and uncle were LMU graduates. We stand in mourning with all who knew Natalie and what a wonderful person, friend and teammate she was."
LMU sends their thoughts and prayers the Nield family.
