Lion Cross Country Teams Compete at USD Invitational

San Diego, Calif. - The men's and women's Loyola Marymount University cross country teams were in action this morning at Morley Field in Balboa Park for the University of San Diego Invitational. The men placed fourth with 92 points, while the women finished fifth with 105. USD won the men's competition with 36 points. The Torero women tied for top honors with Point Loma Nazarene with each totaling 50 points.

Bernie Ochoa was the Lions' top runner, placing sixth overall spanning the 3.1-mile course in just 16:56. USD's Antonio Lopez won in 16:15.4. Kenny Arehart (17:10) and Andy Thompson (17:23) also placed in the top 20 for LMU.

Freshman Lara Del Rio was once again LMU's top runner, placing eighth in 20:33. Erin Junkin also ran well for the Lions placing 16th in 21:18.
