Head Cross Country Coach Scott Guerrero Interviewed on Inaugural Edition of "WCC Live"

Sept. 10, 2009

Los Angeles, CA - This past Tuesday night, the WCC launched the inaugural edition of the "WCC Live" a new 60-minute internet-based sports talk show. Hosted by a familiar voice for Lion's fans Jeff Lamp, who has been the play-by-play voice for LMU basketball, Lamp interviews coaches and players throughout the hour to give an inside look at WCC sports. In addition, fans can email in specific questions and even participate in trivia questions.

In the first edition of the "WCC live" our very own 2008 WCC Cross Country Coach of the Year, Scott Guerrero was interviewed about the recent success of the LMU Cross Country program. In Lamp's introduction he touted the improvement of the LMU Cross Country program "reaching new heights" evidenced in last seasons' WCC championship where both the men's and women's squads had historical performances.

When asked about the prospects of this year's young squad, Guerrero voiced that with talented returners and standout freshmen with a chance to contribute, it should be another exciting year. "We have clawed our way to the top and are definitely knocking" Guerrero said. Lamp also discussed how Guerrero has transformed a program at the bottom of the conference to this past year placing both squads in the top two at the conference championship. Lamp ended by saying for the Lions "at this point, it is not a matter of if-but when."

In addition the show covered the start of the 2009 WCC Soccer, Volleyball and Cross Country seasons in interview with Portland women's soccer coach Garrett Smith (2008 WCC Coach of the Year), Portland men's cross country coach Rob Conner, San Diego women's volleyball head coach Jennifer Petrie (2008 WCC Coach of the Year), and San Francisco men's soccer coach Eric Visser (2008 WCC Coach of the Year).
