SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The race for the women's cross country West Coast Conference title is sure to be a battle this fall if the preseason coaches poll is any indicator. LMU received a pair of first place votes and 66 total points to be selected third in the 10-team field.

But just five points separate the top four teams. Portland received three first place votes and 71 points to earn the top spot in the poll. San Francisco received four first place votes and 70 points, while BYU received one first place votes and tied for third with LMU with 66 points.

Balance among the league was also indicated in the All-WCC Preseason Team, also chosen by the WCC's 10 head coaches. San Francisco placed three athletes on the 10-member team while LMU, BYU and Portland had two each and Santa Clara had one. For the Lions, senior Grace Graham-Zamudio and sophomore Danielle Shanahan received Preseason All-WCC honors.

In her first season with the Lions last fall, Graham-Zamudio placed fifth overall at the WCC Championships, earning First Team All-WCC honors. Shanahan was 15th overall and the top freshman finisher in the field, earning WCC Freshman of the Year honors.
