Cross Country to Preview WCC Championships Course

LOS ANGELES - The LMU men's and women's cross country teams are back in action this week, getting an early season look at the Baylands Park course in Sunnyvale, Calif., that they will compete at in November for the West Coast Conference Championships. Santa Clara will host the championships, as well as Saturday's WCC Preview Meet featuring a men's 8K at 9 a.m. and women's 6K at 9:45 a.m.

The men's field includes 90 runners from eight schools, including WCC members Santa Clara Pepperdine and USF. The women's field consists of 129 total runners from 11 schools, including WCC members Santa Clara, Pepperdine, USF, Gonzaga and Pacific.

The Lions opened the 2014 season two weeks ago at Cal State Fullerton's Mark Covert Classic. Grace Graham-Zamudio and Danielle Shanahan finished one-two and Kayla de Bondt was fourth, leading the LMU women to their fourth straight team title.

The LMU men were led by rookie Mat Holton while three total freshmen were among LMU's top four finishers on their way to placing second as a team.
