LMU to Debut Full Squad at UC Riverside

Sept. 15, 2010

This Saturday morning, the LMU Cross Country team will race at the UC Riverside Invitational in Riverside, CA. LMU will debut a full squad for the first time this season as they begin their official competitive fall schedule. The first Invitational Women's race will go off at 7:30am followed by the Invitational Men's race at 8:00am and then a Women's Open race at 9:00 am.

Last year the Lions set a number of records and personal bests on the fast course. On the women's side freshman Sheree Shea ran 16:51 for the 5k distance placing 3rd overall. The women placed 5th overall placing three runners, Sheree Shea, Cassandra Salazar and Brieanna Delaney in the top twenty overall. UC Riverside won the women's team Invitational race and will be back again this year as the host including top national powerhouse, Arkansas, UCSB, UC Riverside, Westmont, Southern Utah, and WCC rival Santa Clara.

The men placed fourth overall putting their top five in the top fifty overall out of over 340 runners. Sophmore Sterling Lockert and senior Connor Pastoor both raced well at this race last year and the Lions will be looking to these returners to lead a young but talented pack across the line. The BYU men won the team Invitational race and will be back again this year along with UC Riverside, Cal Baptist, Chapman, Calremont, CSU San Marcos, Sacramento State, San Jose State and Santa Clara.
