Los Angeles, Calif. - Loyola Marymount cross country returns to San Diego this weekend, this time to run the San Diego State Aztec Invitational. The first Lions will begin competition at 8:40, when the women's invitational race begins the 5000m run at Balboa Park.

The women will be among a field of 11 opponents, including 17th-ranked University of Arkansas, UNLV, and West Coast Conference foe Saint Mary's. The LMU men are one of seven squads in the men's 8000m invitational and will also face Saint Mary's, 30th-ranked Northern Arizona, and Cal Poly Pomona, which finished in the nation's top-15 last year at the Division II level. Both the men's and women's squads will also take on Cal State San Marcos, a top-10 team in the NAIA.

The Lions' top time-holders of the young season return to action this weekend, as Laura Mickelson (18:41.50 at CS Fullerton Invitational), Sara Mickelson (18:48.40 at CS Fullerton Invitational), and Lino Almeida (27:45.00 at CS Fullerton Invitational) will all run the SDSU Invitational after taking last weekend off.
