Men's Cross Country Ranked #15 in preseason regional poll.

Sept. 16, 2008

Los Angeles, CA - For the first time in school history, LMU's Men's Cross Country team has been ranked in the Division 1 Men's Cross Country Regional Rankings. The Lions are ranked #15 in the West Region.

LMU is one of only two WCC teams ranked in the top 15. Portland, last year's WCC champion is ranked #2 in the West.

"This is really HUGE for us." Coach Scott Guerrero commented on the preseason rankings. "It's a testament to how far our program has come in the last few years."

The women, who have finished in the top 15 at West regional meet for the last three years in a row, were overlooked this year in the preseason rankings. Portland women are the only WCC women's cross country team ranked in the top 15.

"For our women...well I guess we just have to prove them wrong." Guerrero said.

The women have already been doing so. Last week at the San Diego State Aztec Invitational, the women out placed the #14 CSU Fullerton and trailed just one point behind the #7 ranked UCSB.
