Tough Test at Stanford Saturday
Lions to run at Stanford Invitational Saturday against some of the nation's top competition.

Los Angeles, Calif. - Coming off three titles in three meets, Loyola Marymount cross country faces its toughest test to date this season Saturday at the Stanford Invitational. The Lions will field a total of four teams at the invitational, a men's 8k, men's 4k, women's 6k, and women's 4k.
The Lions return to action this weekend after a break in competition last weekend. Previously, the Lion men won the title at the USD Invitational, and the women's squad's Laura Mickelson won the individual titles at the Cal State Fullerton and SDSU Aztec Invitationals.
Mickelson led the Lions' at last year's Stanford Invitational, finishing 16th in 22:13. As a team, the women's squad finished 12th out of 32 teams in the 6k.
The LMU women will face tough competition Saturday, as the host Cardinal is the top-ranked women's squad in the country. The field also includes 11th-ranked UC Santa Barbara, 10th-ranked Chico State (DII), and regionally-ranked Long Beach State and UC Irvine. Saturday will mark the women's first 6k distance of the season.
Top competition also awaits the Lion men, as fourth-ranked Stanford, second-ranked Chico State (DII), 14th-ranked Cal Poly Pomona (DII), top-ranked Concordia (NAIA), and regionally-ranked Cal, Cal Poly, Long Beach State, UC Irvine, and UC Santa Barbara are all among the men's field.
Last season saw the men finish 21st in the 8k.
