LOS ANGELES - LMU cross country returns to action this week as the team travels north for its third meet of the season at Sacramento State's Capital Cross Challenge on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Haggin Oaks Golf Course in Sacramento, Calif.
This marks the Lions' third year of participation in the Capital Cross Challenge. In last year's event, the women's team placed fourth overall in the 6k race, while the men's team came in fifth overall in the 8k race.
"This meet has continued to get better every year," LMU cross country head coach Scott Guerrero said. "It's been pretty good to us. It comes at a point in the season where we have a few races under our belt and have shaken off some of the early-season jitters and can really start to see where we are as a team. As a program, our philosophy is always about getting better and this race provides us a great opportunity to do that."
LMU will first compete in the men's 8k race beginning at 9:50 a.m., followed by the women's 6k at 10:30 a.m. The college awards for the Capital Cross Challenge, presented by Hoka One One, will be announced at 11:00 a.m.
Men's 8k 9:50 a.m.
Women's 6k 10:30 a.m.
Awards Presentation 11:00 a.m.

In the team's last meet at the 37th Annual UC Riverside Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 16, LMU men's cross country finished fifth overall, while the women came in eighth place behind a third-place finish from Danielle Shanahan.
