San Bruno, Calif. - Laura Mickelson has been named the West Coast Conference Cross Country Female Runner of the Month, the conference announced Wednesday. Mickelson ran in three meets during the month of September and won the individual title in two of them.

The Lions' junior won both the Cal State Fullerton Invitational and the San Diego State Aztec Invitational 5K titles. Her time of 17:20.9 helped LMU to a second place team finish at the Cal State Fullerton Invitational to open the season. At the San Diego State Aztec Invitational, Mickelson's first place time of 17:19.0 set a new Lions' course record.

At the Stanford Invitational on September 30, Mickelson took third place behind two runners from No. 1 Stanford. Mickelson;s time of 20:22 at Stanford is the top 6K time in the WCC and helped the Lions to a seventh place finish out of 17 teams.

Mickelson and the Lions will run in their annual Alumni Run this Saturday morning at the Manhattan Beach 10K.
