Partial Squad to Run in Costa Mesa

Lions will run in the OC this Saturday

LOS ANGELES - This Saturday morning, LMU Cross Country will travel down the I-405 to Orange County to run in the Vanguard Invitational in Costa Mesa, Calif. A partial squad will represent the Lions. The women will run the 5k race at 9:00 a.m., while the men will run the 8k race at 10:00 a.m.

This Week:  Vanguard Invitational

Location: Costa Mesa, Calif.

Date: Saturday, Oct. 8

Times: 9:00 a.m. (PT) - Women's Race, 10:00 a.m. (PT) - Men's Race

Last Year's Result: Women - 4th, Men - 6th

Last year at the Vanguard Invitational, the women ran a strong partial squad to finish in 4th against strong competition. The Lions' women were lead by junior Jessica Mumaugh who will be running in this year's race.

The men finished in 6th lead by sophomore Mike Evans. The team faced tough squads from the West and finished ahead of conference rivals Pepperdine.

The Lions are coming off of strong 5th place finishes at the Stanford Invitational, after back-to-back wins at the Asics Season Opener in Brea, Calif. and the UC Riverside Invitational.

CENTENNIAL SEASON: LMU is celebrating its Centennial in 2011-12 and athletics will honor the anniversary all season long. LMUat100 will feature a Centennial Game for each of the varsity programs. Up next is the women's soccer match against Gonzaga on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. The game will feature special promotions, giveaways and honor the history of LMU athletics and LMU women's soccer.
