Nov. 3, 2011
SAN BRUNO, Calif.- The awards for Tara Erdmann are piling up this week. After winning her third WCC Championship on Saturday, and being named to the WCC All-Academic team, Erdmann has been named WCC Runner of the Month for October.
The five-time All-American concluded the month of October by becoming the first person in WCC history to win three individual conference titles. Erdmann ran a record-breaking time of 20:01 at the Crystal Springs course in Belmont, Calif. beating her own record set last year by 20 seconds, and nearly finishing under 20 minutes. In addition to her record day at the WCC Championships, the red-shirt senior finished 3rd overall at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind. earlier in the month.
Last month, Erdmann won the WCC Runner of the Month award after a record setting win at the UC Riverside Invitational and 3rd place finish at the Stanford Invitational. The Tucson, Ariz. native has an incredible year winning races, awards and setting records with more races to come.
The Lions will be running at the NCAA West Regional in Palo Alto, Calif. Saturday, Nov. 12. Check back for a preview of the race.
