Following the WCC Championships, the LMU men's and women's cross country teams will return to postseason racing Friday, Nov. 10 at the NCAA West Regional Championships in Seattle, Wash. The women's 6K will kick off at 10:30 a.m. and the men's 10K will follow at 11:30 at the Jefferson Park Golf Course.

The course consists of multiple 2k loops on flat fairways crossing some cart paths. The course was the site of the 2010 Pac-10 Championships, the 2011 USATF Club Nationals, the NCAA West Regional Championships in 2012 and 2015, and the Washington Invitational beginning in 2014.

The Lions will be looking to improve where they landed in the regional championships last year, with the men placing 16th and the women 21st. The highest regional finishes in LMU school history are 13th (men, 2009) and ninth (women, 2014). Danielle Shanahan (women) and Jack Polerecky (men) have been the consistent top finishers for LMU this season.

The top two teams in Friday’s race automatically qualify for the NCAA National Championships and there is also an opportunity for teams to get an at-large berth depending on their performance throughout the season. Participants can qualify individually and as a team, and to qualify they must finish in the top-25 and be one of the top-4 individuals NOT on a qualifying team.

In LMU’s last outing on Oct. 27 in the WCC Championships in Oakland, the Lion women placed third while the men came in sixth overall.
