Shea Receives USTFCCCA All-Regional Honor
Nov. 12, 2012
USTFCCCA All-Region Release | NCAA National Championships Central | LMU XC on Facebook | LMU XC on Twitter | NCAA West Regionals Recap NEW ORELANS -- LMU senior Sheree Shea has been named a United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association honoree, following her 11th place finish at this past weekend's NCAA Cross Country West Regional Championships. Athletes of member schools that finished in the top 25 individual at one of the nine NCAA regional sites earned the honor. Shea's honor recognizes her performance that placed her in this week's National Championship race. Shea finished the West Regional in a personal-record time of 19:55, her first under-20 minute finish in the 6k, topping her previous best which was set two weeks prior at the West Coast Conference Championships. Her 11th place finish was the best amongst WCC runners and Shea was only one of two runners in the top-12 who did not represent a Pac-12 institution. The coaches' association honor is Shea's fourth this season as she was named WCC Runner of the Month in September, received WCC All-Academic honors in October, and All-WCC honors after finishing third at the conference championship meet. Shea will compete at the NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country Championship at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky. this Saturday, Nov. 17, at 9:00 a.m. (Pacific time) with a live webcast on NCAA.com. LMULions.com will have a preview of the National Championship meet later this week.
