Erdmann travels to Indiana for her fourth national championship appearance
Nov. 18, 2010
LOS ANGELES, Calif. - This Saturday redshirt junior Tara Erdmann will board a plane to Terre Haute, Indiana for the 2010 NCAA National Cross Country Championships. With a fourth place finish at NCAA West Regional's, Erdmann qualified for her fourth national championship appearance. Previously Erdmann qualified for the NCAA National Championships in cross country as a sophomore and twice in the 10k in track; most recently this past spring earning All-American accolades for her 6th place finish in the 10k.
This past weekend, Erdmann placed fourth at NCAA West Regionals in Eugene, Oregon to qualify for the national championships. In one of the most competitive regions in the nation, Erdmann already has seen some tough competition. Additionally earlier this season in October, Erdmann placed 4th at NCAA Pre-Nationals on the same course she will run on Monday. With these two performances under her belt, it can be said that Erdmann has a shot at the top ten in Terre Haute.
From the west region, the Erdmann will be accompanied by Deborah Maier of Cal, Amanda Moreno and Breanne Stenkowski of UCSB who qualified as individuals. For the women, University of Washington and University of Oregon both received automatic team bids for their top two finishes while Arizona and Stanford received two of the at large bids.
Indiana State University will host the Championships, November 22, at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course located at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Indiana. The women's race will begin at approximately 12:08 p.m. Eastern time, followed by the men's race at approximately 12:48 p.m. A live webcast of the championships will be broadcast from noon to 1:30 p.m. Eastern time, Monday, November 22, on NCAA.com.
