Earned National Club Football Association First-Team All-American accolades as an offensive tackle in 1968 and 1969. A southern California sportswriter's Player of the Week in October of 1969, he was named second-team associated press little All-American and United Press International little All-Coast. Became the first Lion Football player to be signed by a National Football League Team in 1970.
