The starting catcher for LMU baseball from 1998-00, Scott Walter led the Lions to three consecutive WCC title and three straight NCAA West Regional appearances. Walter had a standout rookie season in 1998, earning Freshman First Team All-American, WCC Freshman of the Year and WCC Player of the Year honors. He hit .383, his best single-season average, and recorded the first of two three-homer games during his career. A Third Team All-American (2000) and three-time All-WCC honoree, including a two-time First Team selection, Walter was a .356 career hitter and ranks tied for third with 36 career home runs. At the time of induction, Walter also ranks in LMU’s career top 10 in batting average (.356), slugging percentage (.592), on-base percentage (.445), runs (172), hits (248), RBIs (185) and total bases (412). He was a third round MLB draft pick by the Kansas City Royals in 2000.
