A Jam-Packed Season Gets Started

![]() Get Tickets GAMEDAY Central Promotions & More LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The 2011-12 men's basketball season begins this week when the LMU travels to No. 17 UCLA to take on the Bruins on Friday, Nov. 11 at the L.A. Sports Arena. The 11-11-11 game is a fitting start to the Lions' Centennial Celebration, which will be filled with special events, promotions, give-aways and the largest home slate in school history. The Lions have been hosting Centennial Games all season in honor of the tradition and history of LMU athletics. Men's basketball will host its 2011 Centennial on Dec. 2 against Columbia as part of the Doubletree Los Angeles Westside Centennial Classic. LMU's Centennial Celebration continues in grand fashion as the Lions will have special events throughout the weekend, including special recognition of Hall of Fame athletes, Varisty-L members and more on Dec. 2. This will be the first and limited chance to see the Lions' Centennial Uniforms. Be one of the first 2,500 in attendance to get a free Replica Gold Jerseys. This is just the start of the Lions' full season. With 22 men's basketball games at Gersten Pavilion, there is plenty to see. Fans can come and see the Lions play for free during the first Holiday Fan Appreciation Day on Dec. 27 when the Lions take on Vanguard at 6 p.m. Admission will be free to all fans, and the entire Los Angeles community is invited to experience LMU basketball. The first home game of the WCC season will take place on Jan. 5 at Gersten Pavilion against WCC newcomer and Sweet 16 participant BYU. Game time is 6 p.m. The Lions will face the Gonzaga Bulldogs on Jan. 14 at 5 p.m., and fans are encouraged to attend the Pregame Tailgate and get to their seats before tip-off to receive a free LMU Ski Hat at the door. LMU will meet conference rival, Pepperdine on Feb. 2 for the Wells Fargo PCH Cup, and thanks to the Loyolan, the giveawy will be a limited edition Iggy the Lion Bobblehead. Family Weekend will be the 2012 Centennial Game and it will take place during ESPN's SEARS Bracketbusters the weekend of Feb. 17-19. Families are welcome to enjoy the Pregame Tailgate and the first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive free LMU Centennial Blankets at the door. The opponent, date and time will be announced Jan. 31. This just a taste of what is to come this 2011-12 Centennial Season. LMU invites students, alumni, parents, community members and fans to come out and be a part of this year's special presentation.
