Sweet 16s Highlight of 11th Annual Iggys

A pair of trips to the NCAA Sweet 16 was the highlight of the 2016 Lions Athletic Fund Iggy Awards on Wednesday, April 28th at the DoubleTree LA Westside. Women's volleyball and women's soccer, who had historic runs in the their respective NCAA tournaments, were part of the many honors recognized at the 11th Annual Iggy Awards.

Busfield Tosses 8.0 Shutout, Lions Blank Broncos to Win Series

Junior J.D. Busfield dealt 8.0 shutout innings, allowing just five hits and one walk with five strikeouts, to guide LMU (24-21, 12-9 WCC) to a 5-0 shutout victory at Santa Clara (19-22, 6-12 WCC). The shutout, LMU’s fourth of the year, handed LMU a 2-1 series victory over the Broncos.

Lions Score Big Early, Hold on for Victory

In a game that featured 19 runs, 29 hits and seven errors, LMU (23-21, 11-9 WCC) scored big early and held on to beat Santa Clara (19-21, 6-11 WCC), 11-8, on Saturday from Santa Clara’s Stephen Schott Stadium. With the victory, the Lions evened the three-game series with the Broncos.

Lions Drop Opener at Santa Clara, 9-1

The LMU offense managed just one run on five hits, including just one hit over the first 6.2 innings, while Santa Clara chased LMU starter, Cory Abbott, after just 1.0+ inning as the Broncos (19-20, 6-10 WCC) defeated LMU (22-21, 10-9 WCC), 9-1, in game one of a three-game series being played at Stephen Schott Stadium.

Final Road Weekend Series at Santa Clara Next

Arriaga Tosses Gem, Lions Top Roadrunners

Junior Brenton Arriaga dealt 8.1 innings on Tuesday night, allowing just three runs on four hits and one walk with six strikeouts, as the Lions (22-20) defeated CSU Bakersfield (9-30) by a score of 7-3 from LMU’s Page Stadium.

Five Games in Five Days Concludes Tonight

LMU will conclude a string of five games in as many days when the Lions welcome CSUB to Page Stadium for the second meeting in a week between the two teams ... LMU will then travel to Santa Clara for a three-game WCC series beginning on Friday at 6 pm.
