Kyle Mura is in his fourth and final season with the Lions, returning after being selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 49th round of the 2005 draft... has really come on in the fall as a pitcher... has three to four quality pitches in his fastball, curve ball, cutter, and change-up... coaches hope he can help the Lions on the mound and also with his bat... coaches feel he has matured during his LMU career and are expecting a quality senior season...
At LMU... 2005... hit .247 with six home runs, 14 doubles, 35 RBI... started 46 games... also made first career pitching appearance, throwing one scoreless inning with one strikeout at CSUN... was named the WCC's "Best Infield Arm" prior to the start of the season... 2004... received honorable mention All-WCC recognition... hit .317 with eight doubles and 33 RBI in 139 at bats... also tallied six homeruns with a .502 slugging percentage... hit two home runs aganist Santa Clara on 4/16, before exiting for the remainder of conference play with an injured hip...2003... went 2-for-2 in collegiate debut against Cal (2/8)... reached base in first six games he played, posting a .333 batting average... scored first-career run against Cal (2/9) and drove in first RBI against Washington (2/15)... had first career three-hit game, going 3-for-5 with two runs and a RBI in LMU's 11-6 victory over Long Beach State (4/1)... missed final portion of the season with a back injury... ended freshman campaign with a .286 average with 16 hits in 15 starts...
High School... a 2002 graduate of Mission Viejo High School... graduated with a 4.3 grade point average... a two-time first-team All-South Coast League selection... also a first-team All-Orange County and first-team All-CIF selection at shortstop and pitcher... named South Coast League MVP... earned the David Gray Memorial Scholarship for having the highest GPA on the baseball team as well as being named Scholar-Athlete of the year at Mission Viejo High School...
Personal... Kyle Ryan Mura was born November 24, 1984, in San Diego, Calif., to Seana and Stephen Mura... father was drafted by the San Diego Padres and played for Oakland and St. Louis after a successful career at Tulane... has a younger brother, Erik... was also recruited by CS Fullerton, Texas A&M, and Arizona before he chose LMU due to the coaching staff and the university's reputation... major is sociology.
