Colton Plaia is in his fourth season with LMU baseball... named to College Baseball Daily's Top-100 Players list prior to the 2013 season... 2013 Preseason All-WCC selection... 2013 College Sports Madness preseason second team All-Conference... first team All-WCC selection as a junior... drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 33rd round of the 2012 draft, but elected to return to LMU after playing for the USA Collegiate National Team during the summer of 2012... playing for Team USA, Plaia helped the squad to a 12-5 record and a bronze medal after finishing 5-2 at Honkbal Week hosted at Pim Mulier Stadium in the Netherlands...

2012... batted .326 with a team-best six homers and 38 RBI... collected 28 runs scored and eight doubles... slugged .461 while drawing 22 walks... hit .385 with 17 runs scored, four doubles, four homers and 26 RBI in conference play, while throwing out 12-of-27 potential base stealers... slugged .560 and reached at a .472 clip against conference foes... led the Lions in multi-RBI games, collecting 11 to accompany 15 multi-hit performances, while reaching safely in each of his final 22 games of the season... hit safely in 10 straight games from March 16-April 3, batting .486 over the span... collected back-to-back multi-hit games on February 25 and 26 vs. Cal Poly... hit LMU's first home run of the year on February 25 vs. Cal Poly... contributed the game-winning two-RBI single in the 10th inning at UCSB on March 4... went 6-for-11 (.545) in series against Indiana... batted 3-for-3 wtih two runs scored and a RBI in first game of DH... batted 3-for-5 with a double in game two of DH against Indiana... earned WCC Player of the Week on April 2 after going 5-for-10 (.500) with four runs scored, two home runs, a walk and seven RBI against Saint Mary's... posted a career-high five RBI while batting 3-for-4 with a homer on March 30 to help LMU to a 9-4 victory over Saint Mary's... hit .360 (18-for-50) with a pair of doubles, a home run, nine RBI and six runs scored in the month of March... went 2-for-4 with a run scored, a double and a RBI at BYU on April 7... plated a pair of RBI at Gonzaga on April 29 to tie the game as LMU eventually defeated Gonzaga to earn a series victory... batted .500 and reached at a .562 clip at No. 18 San Diego in a three-game series... went 3-for-5 with three RBI on May 11 at USD before going 3-for-4 with two RBI on May 12... teamed with Alex Guthrie for back-to-back homers in the 7th on May 22 vs. UC Riverside... went 4-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored at Santa Clara on May 25... batted .321 against lefties and .328 against righties... hit .378 (34-for-90) with the bases empty... posted a team-high 16 two-out RBI...

2011... finished the year batting .313 with seven runs scored, three doubles, a home run and eight RBI... appeared in 17 games, starting 14... batted 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI against San Diego on May 28... went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored against Hawai'i on March 4... batted 3-for-4 with a run scored, a double and two RBI at Cal Poly on March 12... batted 2-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI against USC on April 19... batted 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored against Portland on May 22...

2010... made an immediate impact at the Division I level, appearing in 33 games and starting 25... batted .295 with 20 runs scored, six doubles, a triple and three home runs... posted 16 RBI, slugged .457 and reached at a .373 clip... drew seven walks and stole one base... batted .242 in conference play, scoring four runs and collecting a double, a triple and five RBI... posted nine multiple-hit games, including a season-best three hits versus Long Beach State on March 16... notched four multiple-RBI games, including three RBI on two occasions... lone stolen base came versus Cal Poly on March 31... hit safely in seven straight games from March 16 to March 26... batted .391 against left-handed pitchers... managed a .379 average when leading off an inning... hit .353 with two out in an inning...

A 2009 graduate of JSerra Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano, Calif... earned three varsity letters for coach Brett Kay... served as team captain in his senior year... garnered All-League recognition as a junior and senior... named a Scholar-Athlete... earned the Coaches Award as a senior... batted .382 with 18 runs scored and 19 RBI as a senior... collected six doubles and two home runs in 2009... was 18-for-31 throwing out potential base runners in his final year... recruited by Oregon and Long Beach State, but chose LMU because it was close to home, has a great sports program, and is a very nice campus...

Colton Luke Plaia was born September 25, 1990 in Mission Viejo, Calif... son of Maryken and Christopher Plaia... has one brother, Nick Murphy, who played baseball at Cal Poly... a business entrepreneur major.
