2009... appeared in 16 games for the Lions, starting two... finished the season with a 0-2 record and a 6.30 ERA over 30 innings... struck out 18 batters and walked 17... first career start came on March 10 against UC Riverside... tossed a season-high four innings in that contest... appeared in three conference games, posting a 2.45 ERA in 3.2 innings... punched-out two WCC hitters while walking one... recorded a season-best four strikeouts at UC Santa Barbara on March 7... held opponents to just a .185 average with runners on base and a .200 mark with runners in scoring position and two outs...

a 2008 graduate of Torrance High School in Torrance, Calif... earned two varsity letters for coach Ollie Turner... garnered All-Area, All-League and All-CIF recognition after both varsity seasons... helped guide his team to the Pioneer League Championship in 2007 and 2008... Will Boerger Senior Athlete of the Year winner... Torrance High School Athlete of the Year as a senior... chose LMU because of the school, academics and baseball program... also competed in basketball in high school... named Most Outstanding Player in the Pioneer League as a senior in basketball...

Jason MacDonald Wheeler was born October 27, 1990 in Torrance, Calif... son of Heather and Gerard Wheeler... both parents played basketball in college, father for San Bernardino Valley and mother for the UCLA junior varsity team ... older brother Ryan, who was a LMU teammate in 2009, currently plays in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization... a business major with a math minor.
