At LMU... 2008... garnered All-WCC First Team honors... earned first career WCC Player of the Week nod for the week ending March 31... batted .545 and slugged .773 with seven runs scored, three doubles, a triple and six RBI en route to the selection... batted .345 and started every game for the Lions as a sophomore... finished with 36 runs scored, a conference-best 20 doubles, one triple, six home runs, 45 RBI and 110 total bases... slugged .542 and reached base at a .405 pace... hit .372 and slugged .628 with 15 runs scored, 11 doubles, three home runs and 24 RBI in conference play... collected a team-high tying 21 multiple hit games and finished second with 10 multiple-RBI games... led the team in doubles and was second in batting average, slugging percentage, runs scored, hits, RBI, home runs and total bases... team leader in RBI, doubles and stolen bases in conference play... his 11 doubles in WCC games placed him first in the conference, while his 24 RBI ranked third overall... posted a career-high three runs scored on three occasions... collected a career-best four hits against Oregon State on March 7 and USC on March 25... tallied a career-high four RBI against Saint Mary's on April 12 and Gonzaga on May 17... hit safely in seven consecutive games from March 24 to April 4... homered in three consecutive games from May 14 to May 17... WCC All-Academic selection... named to Baseball America's Top-30 Prospects list after batting .285 in 42 games played in the Cape Cod League during the summer... also posted 24 runs scored, seven doubles, 67 hits, five home runs and 18 RBI playing for the Brewster Whitecaps...named to Cape Cod League All-Star Team... 2007... hit .375 in 13 conference games... hit .261 for the season, playing in 39 games and making 27 starts... recorded two hits, one run, one RBI, one walk, and one double in his collegiate debut on March 23 in a 9-5 win over Sacramento State... had two three-hit games in 2007, one on April 15 in an 8-0 win over Saint Mary's and on April 24 in a 14-8 loss to UC Irvine... recorded a career-high two RBI in each of those two games as well...
High School... a 2006 graduate of Torrance High School in Torrance, Calif... was a two-time All-CIF (Div. IV) selection for Coach Ollie Turner... served as captain his senior season... hit .454 with 30 RBI as a senior... was also a three-time All-Pioneer League selection in basketball...

Ryan Gerard Wheeler was born July 10, 1988 in Torrance, Calif... son of Heather and Gerard Wheeler... both parents played basketball in college, father for San Bernadino Valley and mother for the UCLA junior varsity team... younger brother Jason also plays baseball for LMU... majoring in business administration.
