Junior Sean Buckle was outstanding in the resumption of game two of a series against Utah (5-4) on Sunday morning, tossing 7.0 scoreless frames and allowing just three hits to guide LMU (3-7) to a 2-0 victory.

Buckle, who entered the game to start the resumption, threw 96 pitches in relief, allowing just the three hits and one walk while striking out a career-best eight hitters to improve to 1-2. Senior Patrick McGrath started the game on Saturday night, tossing two scoreless frames before rain forced the suspension of the game.

Junior Tanner Donnels batted 2-for-3 in the game, while freshmen Austin Miller and Cassidy Brown scored a run. Miller scored in the first inning of the game on Saturday, reaching on a single to second base before stealing second and third. Tommy Cheek wasted no time driving in the run, shooting a double to left field.

The Lions plated their second run in the second inning after play resumed on Sunday morning at 10 a.m. With runners at the corners and two out, David Fletcher hit a ground ball to third base that was mishandled by Biss Larsen, allowing Brown to come into score.

Buckle was dialed in down the stretch as he allowed just one base runner from the sixth inning on.

The two teams will decide the three-game series on Sunday afternoon as left-hander Brandon Horth takes the hill for LMU.
