LMU Drops Doubleheader at San Diego
The Lions end seven-game road trip.

San Diego, CA - Loyola Marymount lost both ends of a doubleheader to San Diego, Sunday afternoon at Cunningham Stadium. The Toreros upped their record to 26-27 overall, 15-12 in the West Coast Conference, while LMU drops to 22-27, 9-15 in the WCC. USD took the opener 4-2 and the finale 11-2.
But it wasn't enough, as USD scored single runs in both the seventh and eighth innings. Torero starter Aaron Wilson (4-6) earned the victory, allowing just two runs on six hits in seven innings of work, while striking out four. LMU's Vincent Cordova dropped to 5-5 on the season allowing just three runs in 6.2 IP.
USD once again scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning of game two, en route to the three-game series sweep of LMU. The Lions trailed 5-2 before USD scored six runs in the eighth inning.
Lion starter Justin Abreu allowed five runs on five hits, dropping to 5-3 on the season, while Justin Blaine (3-4) earned the win for the Toreros.
The Lions have now lost 15 of their last 16 games, including 10 in a row.
LMU will next be in action when the Lions host San Francisco this weekend. The first game will begin Friday at 3 p.m., followed by 1 p.m. starts on Saturday and Sunday.
