SAN BRUNO, Calif. - LMU freshman right-hander Colin Welmon earned Rawlings West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week accolades after tossing his first career complete game at then-No. 18 on Friday of last week. The WCC weekly honor, the first of Welmon's career, is the second of the year for the Lions, as Colton Plaia earned WCC Player of the Week on April 2.

Welmon dominated the then first-place and No. 18 Toreros, tossing his first complete game in his 13th career start and allowing just one run. The native of Tustin, Calif. scattered five hits and did not walk a batter while striking out a career-high tying six batters. Welmon faced just four over the minimum, benefitting from a pair of double plays, while allowing the lone run in the bottom of the ninth as LMU defeated the Toreros, 13-1. Welmon put the Toreros down in order in the sixth, seventh and eighth, and were it not for an error, the right-hander would have faced the minimum from the second through the eighth. With the victory, Welmon improved to 6-3.

LMU and Welmon will next travel to San Diego State on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. game before hosting Pepperdine in a crucial West Coast Conference series over the weekend.
