Following a decorated career running for Loyola Marymount, former All-American Danielle Shanahan has signed a professional contract with HOKA ONE ONE and Northern Arizona Elite. Shanahan will join a team of ten other elite distance runners specializing in distances from the 5,000 meters to the marathon.

Numerous LMU baseball players have been added to various collegiate summer league teams across the country. In total, 11 Lions are taking advantage of these summer games, a tradition across college baseball for decades. LMU players are off to hot starts across the board this summer, as the Lions take the first steps in preparing for the 2019 season. With the 2018 FIFA World Cup underway and grabbing the attention of the globe, Loyola Marymount men's and women's soccer looks back at the time that several international superstars trained on LMU's Sullivan Field with their respective club teams. FC Barcelona was on campus in August of 2006, Manchester City played on the Bluff in July of 2011, and Paris Saint-Germain used the campus in July 2016 to practice during their US Summer Tour. In total, 16 players from those teams are in Russia representing their country on the game's biggest stage. Between the three clubs, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, Mexico, Spain, and Uruguay have players who were part of the summer trainings at LMU. 

Men’s soccerand women’s tennis have filled coaching vacancies for the upcoming school year. Men’s soccer as hired Kyle Schmid as an assistant coach for the men’s soccer team. Schmid most recently served as an assistant coach at CSU Fullerton for three seasons. Schmid has also held assistant coaching positions at UC Irvine and CSU Northridge while gaining experience at the club and youth levels with various programs as well. He is no stranger to LMU, as he worked with the Lions as a volunteer assistant coach in 2013-14.

Elizabeth Begley, who has spent the last three years as the Cornelia Drake and John Van Ryn Jr. '28 Assistant Coach of Women's Tennis at Princeton, has been hired as an assistant coach with LMU women’s tennis. As a coach at Princeton, Begley helped Princeton to a pair of Ivy League titles, including one this last spring as the Tigers went 19-4 overall and 7-0 in conference play en route to a berth into the NCAA Championship Tournament. Over her three years, Princeton compiled a 45-23 overall record and a 16-5 in Ivy League play.
