LOS ANGELES, Calif. -
As the 2013 season approaches, we here at LMULions.com would like to (re)introduce you to some of the baseball players who will be gracing Page Stadium's field this year. We have asked all the players a series of questions that range from why they chose LMU to what they would change their name to if they could. If you have any additional question that you'd like to see answered in the future, please feel free to email Tyler Geivett at email@example.com.
This week's question and answer session will feature Junior Patrick McGrath.
LMULions.com: What did you do this summer?
Patrick McGrath: I played baseball for the Alaska Goldpanners of Fairbanks Alaska.
LMU: Why did you choose LMU/What do you like most about LMU?
PM: I love the competitive spirit that Loyola Marymount brings to play and both the academics and athletics are top of the line.
LMU: Do you have a nickname? Explain the meaning behind it.
PM: I've always had the nickname, Bloodbath McGrath. My football team in high school started it and it has stuck ever since.
LMU: What is your greatest highlight on the field?
PM: I have two favorite games. My first is when I played in the CIF Championship game my freshman year as a shortstop. The second is when I played in the Midnight Sun game this summer in Alaska. I closed the game and we ended up winning 7-5.
LMU: After LMU, what do you want to do?
PM: I would love to continue to play baseball at the professional level.
LMU: Do you have any superstitions?
PM: I always knock on wood so that I don't jinx myself or others. I will never step on the base line, that is just bad ju-ju for the game. I wear my cross every time I pitch. If I'm not wearing it then I feel like a little piece of me is missing.
