LMULions.com held a question and answer session with baseball player Matt Florer.

Sept. 19, 2012

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - As the 2013 season approaches, we here at LMULions.com would like to (re)introduce you to some of the baseball players who will be gracing Page Stadium's field this year. We have asked all the players a series of questions that range from why they chose LMU to what they would change their name to if they could. If you have any additional question that you'd like to see answered in the future, please feel free to email Tyler Geivett at tgeivett@lmu.edu.

This week's question and answer session will feature senior Matt Florer.

LMULions.com: What did you do this summer?
Matt Florer: Worked, lifted and golfed.

LMU: Why did you choose LMU/What do you like most about LMU?
MF: I really trust and bought into what Coach Gill had to say, and I love the guys and the life-long friends that I am so blessed to have met.

LMULions.com: Do you have a nickname? Explain the meaning behind it.
MF: Flo. Maybe the last name, maybe the majestic "flo" of hair that is on top of my head.

LMULions.com: What is your greatest highlight on the field?
MF: The roller coaster of a series we had with USD last year. I will never forget the thrills of that weekend.

LMULions.com: After LMU, what do you want to do?
MF: Hopefully find myself involved with politics as one day I can see myself becoming President with my running mate being Colin Welmon.

LMULions.com: Do you have any superstitions?
MF: None. Number 13.

LMULions.com: Do you have any hidden talents?
MF: Probably my CREED-like singing abilities. Grammy worthy.

LMULions.com: What is your favorite baseball team?
MF: The Seattle Mariners. Without Question.

LMULions.com: What is the early favorite for your walk-up song?
MF: Jay-Z: "Oh My God"

LMULions.com: What is your favorite movie?
MF: "For The Love Of The Game". Looking at my senior year as being a Billy Chapel kind of moment.

LMULions.com: What is your favorite book?
MF: The Great Gatsby

LMULions.com: What celebrity would play you in a movie about your life?
MF: Leo for sure.

LMULions.com: You are given $1,000,000 - what do you spend it on?
MF: Probably buy a nice fuel-efficient sports car and then the rest of it goes straight to the bank.

LMULions.com: Are you a collector of anything?
MF: None that I can think of.

LMULions.com: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
MF: I mean the conventional answer would have to be to fly, but I'd have to say teleporting myself anywhere anytime would be my choice.

LMULions.com: If I take a look inside your refrigerator what would I find?
MF: Water, chocolate milk, and maybe some left over salad from the previous night.

LMULions.com: What is your motto or advice you live by?
MF: I just try leaving places and people better than they were when I got there.

LMULions.com: Name at least one television show that you watch every week.
MF: None for the time being but I used to follow House and Lost religiously.

LMULions.com: What is your most prized possession?
MF: Give it a few months and it will soon be my LMU Degree.

LMULions.com: Any fears or phobias?
MF: Not the biggest fan of roller coasters. And would also have to say leaving LMU without a WCC Championship.

LMULions.com: Who is your biggest influence in life?
MF: My Father.

LMULions.com: Name one thing not many people know about you.
MF: Honestly, I was always a much better hitter than I ever was a pitcher.

LMULions.com: Do you have a celebrity look-alike?
MF: Ryan Gosling. Would have to say he's my doppelganger.

LMULions.com: If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be?
MF: Seeing LMU win its first ever College World Series.
