LMU baseball's recruiting class, which was tabbed 34th in the nation by Collegiate Baseball earlier this preseason, was named #22 by Baseball America on Tuesday. The Lions are the only West Coast Conference school on the list.
"We are very excited that this recruiting class is getting the recognition that it deserves," LMU baseball recruiting coordinator Bryant Ward said. "Our entire coaching staff and support staff played a role in getting these young men to not only sign with LMU, but to actually show up on campus. Bringing positive national attention to your program is always a great thing, especially when it is a Top-25 ranking from a publication as prestigious as Baseball America."
The talented class, which has already taken the field this fall, includes David Fletcher, the 2013 Division II CIF Player of the Year, Cass Brown, the 2013 Ohio Player of the Year, Tyler Cohen, a first-team All-CIF selection and the #46 prospect in California according to Baseball America, and Trent Hammond, a first team All-CIF selection and a Max Preps All-State honoree.
"The fact that we were one of two non-BCS schools to make the list, and the only representative from the WCC, speaks volumes about our institution and the direction our program is going under the leadership of head coach Jason Gill," Ward said.
