Lions Release 2017 Baseball Schedule
LMU will play 24 of its 54 games at Page Stadium.
Preparing for his ninth season at the helm of the LMU baseball program, head coach Jason Gill recently announced a 2017 schedule that features 54 games, including 24 home contests. The Lions will play 13 regular-season games against teams that reached the 2016 NCAA Tournament, including beginning the year with a three-game series at 2016 College World Series qualifier UC Santa Barbara on February 17.
In addition to the games against the Gauchos, LMU will play a three-game series at Arizona State (March 3-5), three at Saint Mary’s (April 13-15), three at Gonzaga (May 12-14), and one at home against Washington. The game against the Huskies is scheduled for April 10 at 6 p.m. from Page Stadium.
After a season in which it played no non-conference home weekend series, LMU will have just one this year, hosting Washington State from February 24-27 for a four-game stretch. In addition to the trips to Santa Barbara, Calif. and Tempe, Ariz., LMU will travel to Cal Poly for three from March 10-12.
Midweek games this year will feature home contests against Tennessee (February 22) and Michigan (March 1), and home-road pairings against UC Irvine (March 7 and March 28), USC (March 14 and April 18), Cal State Northridge (March 21 and April 25), CSU Bakersfield (March 29 and May 10), and UC Riverside (April 4 and May 9). LMU will also play a single road midweek game at Oregon on May 17.
The West Coast Conference slate will be tough as always, as LMU will open conference play at San Francisco on March 17 before beginning a three-game series with BYU on March 23. The Lions will then host Pacific (March 31-April 2) and Santa Clara (April 7-9) before traveling to Saint Mary’s and Pepperdine (April 21-23). A home series against San Diego (April 28-30) will serve as the final home games of the year before the Lions visit Gonzaga and Portland (May 19-21) to finish the WCC slate.
The Lions will then hope to reach the WCC Championship Series from May 25-27 for the third time in the last four seasons.
