LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Crimson team, led by senior Colton Plaia, took the first game of the 2012 Crimson/Navy series on Thursday, earning a 2-0 decision at LMU's Page Stadium. The Crimson team scored twice in the third inning off of Navy starter Colin Welmon, and received a solid pitching performance from sophomore Trevor Megill en route to the victory.

Plaia drove in the game's first run with a sacrifice fly that brought home Joey Boney in the third before a Cole Trezek RBI-triple down the right field line plated Matt Lowenstein and capped the scoring on Thursday afternoon.

The Navy team managed to threaten in the bottom of the final frame, putting two men aboard against Crimson closer Bret Dahlson. The right-hander yielded a single to Welmon before walking a batter to put the tying run aboard, but eventually closed the door and completed the shutout.

The series continues tomorrow with a game at 2 p.m.
