Combined seniors Anthony Ireland and Alex Osborne have played 251 games as LMU Lions, on Saturday they will add the final two from Gersten Pavilion as the Lions host San Francisco in the home finale. The duo have played more games than any players in LMU history and they will say farewell to Gersten Pavilion on Senior Day with tip-off set at 7 pm.
A conference rivalry that originally started in 1954 will be renewed this week for LMU men's basketball as the 2014 conference portion of the schedule continues with the Lions heading to Pacific on Thursday, Jan. 23. Pacific, who rejoined the West Coast Conference this season, is 10-7 on the season and 1-5 in the WCC while the Lions are 10-10 and 2-6. Tip-off is set for 7 pm and can be seen on TheW.tv and heard on KXLU 88.9 FM.

The 2013-14 non-conference portion of the LMU men's basketball schedule will come to a close on Saturday, Dec. 21 with the third annual LMU Holiday Classic. The Lions will take on La Sierra (3-11) in a game with free admission. Tip-off is set for 6 pm, and Sodexo is offering $1 hotdogs.

IN 2012-13 RS JUNIOR... Played all 34 games for the Lions, averaging 22.6 minutes per contest in his fourth season with the program... set career bests in every statistical category as a redshirt junior, averaging 4.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per contest... also had 45 steals and 16 blocks on the season, ranking second on the team in both areas... he was ranked 11th in the WCC with 1.3 steals per contest... he had a career-best 15 points to end the regular season at Santa Clara (2/28/13) and then equalled a career-best with 11 rebounds against the Broncos in the WCC Quarterfinals (3/8/13)... he also had a career-best three blocks against Pepperdine (1/24/13)... had his first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds in that game against the Broncos...
IN 2011-12 RS SOPHOMORE... Played in 32 games, missing the first two games due to NCAA redshirt rules... averaged 2.6 points and 3.0 rebounds per contest, hitting 45.6 percent from the field on the season... has added 25 steals... has had six games of two or more steals, including a career-best five at San Francisco (12/31/11) in the WCC opener. He added six points and five rebounds in the win... had three steals against San DIego (2/23/12). San Francisco (2/4/12) and Gonzaga (1/14/12) and four against Pepperdine (2/2/12)...he had eight points and 11 rebounds against BYU (1/5/12), both season highs with the 11 boards being a career-high... went for five points and nine rebounds in the win at Santa Clara (1/24/12)...
IN 2010-11 SOPHOMORE... played in the game against La Sierra, scoring four points with three rebounds in 12 minutes... was then granted redshirt and did not play again on the season...
IN 2009-10 FRESHMAN...Played in 26 games as a true freshman for the Lions, averaging 11.3 minutes... finished his first season of collegiate basketball averaging 2.6 ppg and 2.4 rpg... he also added five blocks, seven assists and nine steals... played in one game in Montana... played two minutes against Tulsa... scored with a block and a steal against UCSB... had a break-out game against AAU, scoring 16 points with four rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block in just 18 minutes... increased production continued, scoring seven points with seven rebounds, an assist and a block in 22 minutes, all seven boards were offensive... played 14 minutes against Notre Dame, had two points and two boards... had seven points, three rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench against LBSU... had six rebounds, all offensive against Portland... had three points and three rebounds in 13 minutes against Gonzaga... played two minutes in WCC quarterfinal against USF... played six minutes with two rebounds against Gonzaga in semifinals... POSTSEASON... Played six minutes with a rebound...
PRIOR TO LMU... Osborne, a 6-8 power forward, averaged 16.3 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.9 blocks, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals for Pacific Hills in Los Angeles. He helped the Bruins to a 28-7 overall record and a 9-1 mark in Alpha League play. Osborne finished ranked third in the league in scoring, third in blocks, and second in rebounds. In his senior season, Osborne went for a career-best 31 points and 13 rebounds in an 83-81 win over Woodcrest Christian on Feb. 27. His career-high of 19 rebounds came in a 72-51 win over Birmingham on Dec. 27. As a junior, Osborne averaged 12.8 points and 8.9 rebounds in helping Pacific Hills go 19-12. In his sophomore season he averaged 13.3 points and 4.0 rebounds for the Bruins, who went 23-9 in the 2006-07 season. As a freshman he averaged 7.0 points and 5.6 rebounds. He finished his career as a two-time All-CIF selection and a two-time All-Delphia League selection. Was named DV Player of the Year in 2007-08 and played for coach Ivan Barahona. Osborne had a busy fall. In addition to playing and excelling at hoops, he was one of 13 seniors from Pacific Hills to volunteer at a polling place during the 2008 presidentiql election. He served as the Baldwin Hills polling place that served his precinct.
PERSONAL... Alex Jerreil Osborne was born in Los Angeles, Calif., and is the son of Raymond Osborne and the late ArDena Whitehead. Has done volunteer work with the L.A. River Clean-up and in youth services. He earned his Bachelor's in Economics in May of 2013 and is now in the Masters of Educational Studies program at LMU.
