The start of the 2014-15 season for the LMU men's basketball program and the Mike Dunlap era begins with the 2014 LMU CLassic presented by the Office of International Students and Scholars. Seniors Godwin Okonji, Ayodeji Egbeyemi and Chase Flint sat down to talk about the new season, returning after injuries, hard work and team chemistry.
Senior Chase Flint had the opportunity to learn and use Spanish on a daily basis during his two-year mission prior to transferring to LMU. He had a chance to reacquaint himself with the language in the last 12 days as the Lions traveled Spain. He talked about the Lions experience right before heading out on a 12-hour flight home on Friday.
Showing its reach across the globe, LMU continued its tour while sending back some well wishes as they spent their final day in Madrid before flying to Barcelona on Sunday morning. The Lions had a full pre game practice, followed by the coaches participating in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. They then took on the Angola National Team, who is participating in the upcoming FIBA World Championships in Spain.
Just three weeks into the 2013-14 West Coast Conference season, LMU will wrap-up its second season series, this time with BYU when the Lions travel to Provo, Utah, on Saturday, Jan. 11 for a 6 pm tip-off.
LMU men's basketball was on the road for a month and returned home this week for the first time since Nov. 17. In addition to home games, the Lions were able to get back to action in the community as well, with the community outreach program LMU Cares picking back up on Monday at Franklin D. Parent School in Inglewood.
Lions travel to Stanford to face the Cardinal for just the sixth time in program history.

BRIEFLY...Chase Flint is in his third and final season of collegiate basketball at LMU in 2014-15... transferred to LMU in 2012-13 after playing one season at the College of Eastern Utah... missed last 13 games of season due to broken elbow that required season-ending surgery... earned Bachelor's in Communications in May of 2014 and is currently working on Masters in Educational Studies.
HIGHLIGHTS AT LMU...
IN 2012-13 SOPHOMORE... played in 23 games, earning 18 starts in first season with LMU... finished averaging 4.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.2 assist per contest... led team with a 2.74 assist to turnover ratio and prior to his injury had a ratio at nearly 4.0, which had him in the top-10 nationally... suffered a stress reaction in his shin during the WCC opener at BYU on Jan. 3... scored 14 points in the opener against Pacifica (11/9/12) and then had a dozen twice hitting six field goals against Ole Miss (12/19/12) and hitting four three-pointers at CSUB (11/17/12)... had eight assists in that season opener and added four steals in the regular season finale against BYU (3/2/13)... had a 10 rebounds against Morgan State (12/27/12)... PRIOR TO LMU... played one season at the College of Eastern Utah and was one of the top-five players in the competitive junior college Scenic West Athletic Conference. Flint was ranked in the Conference's top-15 of every statistical category except blocked shots as a true freshman in the 2011-12 season and was named first-team All-Conference... He was ranked seventh in the league in scoring (13.6 ppg), second in rebounds (7.8 rpg), first in steals (2.7 spg), first in assist/turnover ratio (2.4), and first in minutes played (30.9)... Prior to attending Eastern Utah, Flint spent two years on an LDS mission.
HIGH SCHOOL... Graduated from Davis High School in June of 2008... played both basketball and football at Davis... had a standout senior season, earning All-State and All-Davis Area honors... helped team to Regional Championship three straight years... was named State All-Tournament team... As a senior he averaged 13.0 points, 4.7 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game... was an all-conference selection in football at cornerback and receiver.
