2000-01 Season Notes at Davidson:
Continued to show signs of consistent growth, increasing his scoring average to 10.6, third on the team... also increased his rebound average to 4.7... he led the team from the field, hitting 50 percent of his shots (87-for-174)... his hot start to the season, including a season and career high 31 points against Drexel (12-29-00), was hampered by an ankle injury that forced him to sit out eight of DavidsonÃ,'s final nine games... he began the season with a 25-point outing against South Florida (11-17-00)... he would score 11 against Jackson State (11-19-00), and Elon (12-2-00), 15 against Carnegie Mellon (11-30-00) and 17 against UNC Charlotte (12-9-00) prior to his 31-point outburst... he would score in double-digits five more times on the season, including 18 against West Carolina and 16 against Appalachian State... he scored 10 or more points 12 times on the season... he would set 12 career highs in 2000-01.
1999-00 Season Notes at Davidson:
Dickens was used mainly as a replacement for experienced senior starters... he finished the season averaging 6.3 points and 3.1 rebounds... he gained valuable experience at the college level and playing time increased as the season progressed in his freshman campaign... at the end of the season he became a starting power forward... the first time he scored double-digits he nearly earned a double-double, getting 10 points and nine rebounds in 29 minutes against top-ranked Stanford (12-30-99)... he scored in every game he played, reaching double figures four times... set a season-high with 19 points to lead Davidson to a 62-60 win at East Tennessee State (1-25-00)... he did it again against East Tennessee State with 12 points, going 6-of-7 from the field.
High School:
As an Arizona Republic first team all-state selection, Dickens averaged 25 points and 14 rebounds for Salpointe Catholic High School... he led his team to a 24-5 record and the state championship game... in the championship he scored 45 points to tie a record set by Mike Bibby of the NBAÃ,'s Sacramento Kings... he was the southern Arizona player of the year both as a junior and a senior... his junior season saw him average 24 points and 12 rebounds, and his sophomore year he averaged 14 and seven.
