BRIEFLY... Edgar Garibay is in his third season of collegiate basketball after earning a medical redshirt in 2009-10 after a torn ACL... Prior to LMU, spent a season at prep school is Las Vegas, Nev. He is a southern California product, one of eight on the roster, graduating from Compton High School in 2008.

IN 2010-11 RS Freshman... played in 18 games on the season as he continued to work back from ACL injury... averaged 15.0 minutes per game, scoring 3.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest... Missed first two games as he continued to work through soarness in repaired knee... Made first appearance since tearing ACL a year ago, grabbing six rebounds, three offensive in 21 minutes against Bradley... played 20 minutes against Rider, going for five points and five boards... out since Long Beach State game with soarness in his knee... returned to action against Florida State, playing 10 minutes with four points... played nine minutes with four points, two rebounds, an assist, block and steal at South Dakota... did not play against UC Irvine after suffering a concussion in practice the week prior... played 16 minutes against SMC, scoring tw points with four rebounds and two steals... had seven points, three rebounds and an assists in 17 minutes off the bench in the win over USD... went for season-best 10 points, going 3-for-5 from the field and 4-for-6 from the charity stripe, adding four rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal... earned the start against Gonzaga, scoring four points with two rebounds and a steal... had six points, three rebounds and a block in 17 minutes against Pepperdine... went for nine points and six rebounds with two blocks at Saint Mary's... played five minutes against Portland before suffereing right ankle sprain, likely out the remainder of the season...
IN 2009-10 Freshman... Played seven games before ACL injury... Played big minutes in his first games of college career, going for 5.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in three games at Montana tournament, averaging 24 minutes... Made first start against UC Irvine, scoring eight points with five boards... Went for 12 points with six rebounds in 30 minutes, hitting 6-for-9 from the field at USC... Went for 12 again with nine rebounds against Tulsa... Suffered a torn ACL in his left knee against UC Santa Barbara... earned medical redshirt...
PRIOR TO LMU... The 6-10, 250-pound forward was one of the top-100 rated centers in the country by ESPNU and was an all-conference selection after averaging a double-double as a senior at Compton. He graduated in May and spent the previous season at college prep school in Las Vegas. Garibay played for Tony Thomas at Compton, earning All-Conference honors his final three seasons and All-CIF honors as a junior and senior. In his final two seasons he went on to earn honorable mention All-America honors by several publications. He finished his final season at Compton leading the team to a 24-6 record and a 12-0 mark in Moore League play. He averaged 13.6 points and 12.9 rebounds per game. Showing great touch, he shot 85 percent (142-for-167) from the field, including 6-for-10 from the three-point line. On the season he had 18 double-doubles, including nine straight to end the season. Included in that stretch was a 12-point, 26-rebound performance in a 63-48 win over Long Beach Wilson. His career-high for points came in twice with 28 points against Harvard Westlake and Long Beach Jordan. He also had a 25-point, 14-rebound performance in a 72-69 win over Roosevelt of Seattle, Wash. In that win he went 9-for-10 from the field.
PERSONAL... Edgar Garibay was born in Ocotlan, Jalisco, Mexico and is the son of Sandra Padilla and the late Javier Garibay. He is the youngest of four, having two brothers and a sister. His brother Jorge played club soccer in Mexico. He is a Communications major.
