Keith played the point guard position for the Lions from 1982 through 1986. In his Junior year, he averaged just over 21 points and three rebounds per game. In 1985, he broke the school's single season scoring record with 678 points. In the record books he ranks fifth in All- Time Scoring (1,980) and second in All-Time Assists. He was awarded All-Conference First-Team Honors in 1984, 1985, & 1986. Smith was selected in the second round of the 1986 NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks.
