Drew Rossi joined the LMU Athletics Department as an Assistant Strength Coach in the Summer of 2011, serving as the head strength coach of the LMU men's and women's basketball programs. Rossi brings a wealth of experience both in training basketball players and various levels and playing experience from his time at UMass.
The 2013-14 season will be his third at LMU.
Rossi graduated with his B.S. in Kinesiology in May of 2007 at UMass after playing two seasons on the basketball team. He joined the team in 2004 as a walk-on having never played high school basketball.
Following college, he instantly became involved in strength and conditioning. He started as an intern under former UMass Assistant Strength Coach Chris Boyko (who is now the Head Strength Coach at Amherst College). He also worked as a personal trainer and rehabilitation aide at Grey Physical Therapy in Conneticut, working with a wide range of clients. While there, he was able to be a personal trainer at various facilities.
This led him to Fitness Together, where he served as the head trainer, working on 45 or more sessions per week. He worked with athletes in developing unique programs for their sport.
He was then hired by the Springfield Armor of the NBA D-League to be their Strength & Conditioning Coach. He was responsible for each athletes specific training plans and worked with the teams in their overall training programs. He was the first trainer in the team's history.
