In his second season as a Lion, he finished playing in 27 games, averaging more than nine minutes a game... he led the team in blocks with 23, ranked 10th in the West Coast Conference... he averaged 3.3 points and 2.1 rebounds per game... against Cal State Fullerton (11-24-01), he came off the bench to score eight points on 4-of-7 shooting... in the win against UCSB (12-8-01), he played 10 minutes and had six points to go with his career-high three blocks... against UNLV (12-15-01), he played four minutes and finished with four points, including his only career three-pointer at the buzzer to end the half... in a win over Long Beach State (12-18-01), he had his best game of 2002, playing 17 minutes... he finished with 10 points on 5-for-6 shooting... equaled a career-high with seven rebounds... two games later against Occidental (1-2-02), he played a then career-high 21 minutes to score a career-best 14 points with five rebounds... was 7-of-8 from the field while adding three assists and two blocks... to open conference play against USF (1-11-02), he played 13 minutes and scored two points with a rebound... had another double digit outing against Portland (1-18-02), scoring 13 points in 23 minutes... added five rebounds and tied a career-high with three blocks... was 3-for-3 from free throw line... converted on three three-point plays... in the rematch against Pepperdine (2-2-02), he played 13 minutes and scored four points with four rebounds... against Santa Clara (2-22-02), he had two blocks in 16 minutes... added five rebounds... played 15 minutes with three blocks, five points and five rebounds against San Diego (2-23-02) finale against Gonzaga (3-2-02), he played eight minutes with two points and three blocks.

Spent his first season of collegiate basketball as a true freshman adjusting... finished the season averaging 1.6 points and 1.7 rebounds per game... played some of his best games late in the season... his collegiate career started against Vanguard (11-17-00) as he played four minutes and had a dunk for two points late in the game... against highly ranked USC (11-25-00), he played the most minutes of the season with 15, adding three rebounds... on the road at Colorado (11-28-00) he played five minutes off the bench and hit his only shot... he also added an assist and a rebound... in Las Vegas against UNLV (1-3-01) he played 13 minutes and had two points, a rebound, a block and a steal in his best game to date... at home against San Diego State (1-6-01) he played 16 minutes, scored four points and added three rebounds... on the road against Gonzaga (2-15-01) he had 11 points and five rebounds... he was 4-for-9 from the field and had four offensive rebounds... in the home finale against Saint Mary?,'s (2-24-01) he played 14 minutes, with a career-high seven rebounds and three steals... in the final game of the season against Santa Clara in the WCC Tournament (3-3-01), he played 19 minutes off the bench for the Lions, then a career-high... had five points... added two rebounds and a steal.

A 2000 graduate of Dominguez High School... the Dons finished ranked No. 1 in the nation according to USA Today in his senior season... the starting forward averaged 12 points, seven rebounds and five blocks a game for the California State Division II Champions... he was an All-San Gabriel Valley League selection in his senior campaign... Gay was also a Dade All-Star Classic Game Selection and a Warehouse All-Star Game Selection in 2000... was a full classic press showcase game participant (top 24 senior high school players) and scored 14 points in the game in 1999... was selected to the Fall Basketball Classic All-Tournament team in 1999... .his teams have seen plenty of success... Best of the West Summer Shootouts at Long Beach State University, Gay's team won the 1999 Finals Championship... in the Memorial Intercity Four Blocks Tournament, he averaged 20 points, eight rebounds and four blocks a game for the championship team... at the L.A. WATT Summer Games in 1999, averaged 19 points, six rebounds and three blocks for the tourney champs.
